- Susan Fagans
Susan Fagans

After being diagnosed with laryngeal cancer in 2006, Ms. Fagans underwent a series of radiation treatments and then surgery to remove her larynx. Ms Fagans did not realize that the treatments resulted in a condition called radiation necrosis.  The tissue in her neck, around her cancer site, was all dead. With no healthy cells in the area, Ms. Fagan’s surgical wound could not heal. It became badly infected. To increase her  blood oxygen levels and speed up her tissue repair, Ms. Fagan’s was referred to outpatient HBO therapy at Lakeland Regional Medical Center’s (LRMC) Wound Care Center®.  Now, Ms. Fagans says, “The Center at Lakeland is the catalyst to me being healed.”
