Since opening The Wound Care Center in 2006, The Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway has exceeded its own goals, and has outperformed many national benchmarks. In the last year, the Wound Care Center has served 352 new patients; 28% beyond its budgeted volume.

The facility’s clinical results have also exceeded expectations. According to Program Director Tom Woodard, "Our clinical outcomes have been tremendous. They’ve been well above the national benchmarks for wound healing, a 90 percent healing rate within 21 days." The facility’s 21days-to-heal average surpasses the national average by 14 days, or two full weeks. And the center’s healing rate exceeds the national rate of 80% for a center in its first two years of operation.

The first Diversified Clinical Services Wound Care Center in the area, the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital at Rahway provides specialized wound care including specialty dressings, debridements, and advanced would care therapies. "A center like this has been very innovative in the medical community in this area … in the beginning of my practice nothing like this existed” says General Surgeon Anthony Tonzola. He has been impressed with the center’s healing rate adding, “Together with some of the new products and the innovative approach to the healing algorithms, these people have seen amazing results.”
