Becoming a Wound Care Center Hyperbaric Oxygen Technician

Wound Care Center chamber operators are certified and/or licensed in one of the following vocations or hold a diploma from an accredited institution in one of the following professions to meet the minimum education and experience requirements:

Additionally, each chamber operator attends, or provides verification of attendance to, an Introductory Hyperbaric Training Course as approved by either the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) or the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT). Upon successful completion of an approved course, and 480 hours of hyperbaric work experience, the chamber operator may take a national exam for certification as a Certified Hyperbaric Technologist.

Hyperbaric Safety Director is a designation applied to the most senior technologist and that has demonstrated a high level of maturity and competency.
